just curious...is anyone hearing the older/infirm ones speaking out to others on how they are being treated in the congregation?
without giving anything away, i have spoken to so many older ones (some are sickly or can't drive in the evening or can't drive at all) who can't make it to all the meetings, assemblies, etc., that are complaining on how they are being treated by the more righteous ones in the hall.
the ones i have spoken to make the comment that it seems to be the younger elders that have less empathy and concern for these ones.

In my congregation, the elderly are lovingly provided for. Even inactive ones like me (I no longer attend) are shown love. My belief is that people are good and kindhearted, or they are not. Religion is not necessarily a contributing factor. My great group of JW friends may no longer be the norm.

O.M.G. I cannot believe this. The toilet was a stroke.
almost two months into the change in format of the mid week meeting from the school and service meeting format to the christian life and ministry (clam) format.
in my congregation, seems attendance is down 10-15% over the normally low attendance for the mid week meeting before the change.
some indicate that the meeting under the clam format is very "intense"...you really need to study and research to be able to participate or get anything out of the meetings.
When I was School Overseer many a year ago, Aid to Bible Understanding was our focal point. However we may now view the WT publications, it was a meaty meeting and I loved it. I'm biased. I worked on the tome at God's House. Well, in the factory!

i was at a concert last night and the presence and stature of the piano struck me.
and i thought: if the piano wasn't invented when it was, would it have been invented by someone else instead?
or if there was a world the same as our, except with a different history, would it have pianos now too or would it be modern world, similar in many respects, only without pianos?
Your observation is meaningful to me, SBF, because of my 50 years teaching piano. Although I trained since early childhood for the stage, it is teaching that I have always preferred.
An occasional gig keeps me hammering at the strings and in costume . . .

Edited to add: If you haven't already done so, Google Bartolomeo Cristofori to learn what happened to his initial enterprise of piano building. He was, originally, a maker of harpsichords. It bears, among other things, upon Blondie's comment on meeting sound requirements of the day.

Could be a regional thing re: JW activities. Here -- California -- the JWs have theme parties, root online for their favorite sports teams, go to rock concerts, etc. And these are active, gung-ho JWs. No censure whatsoever.
As I wrote, it could be a West Coast thing; however, a few decades back, all of the above would have been absolutely forbidden. Local needs talks . . . reproof . . . shame. . . .
